Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships Guernsey Team 2015

On the 10th of July 26 Guernsey athletes head to Cape Town, South Africa, to compete at the Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships 2015. This year the team is comprised of 5 girls and 21 men who will compete across 12 events.

The Junior event was first held in India in 2006, this is the first time it has been held in South Africa. It is also the first time the U17 Cadet age group has been included in the event. Guernsey had its first success with a Bronze Medal in the Men’s Junior Sabre in Penang, 2009. It followed this success with another bronze medal in the Women’s Junior Epee in Jersey, 2012.
