Castel Victorious in First Inter Schools Badminton Festival

A strong Castel Primary side became the first recipient of the Inter Schools Badminton Festival trophy. The team comprising of Billy, Tom and Max saw of competition from Forest, Notre Dame and then later Vale and Beechwood to run out overall team winners.

7 schools took part in the first inter schools badminton festival with schools drawn in either Group ‘X’ or ‘Y’. Castel and Vale successfully won all of their group matches and were joined by Forest and Beechwood in the final group stage. LMDC, Vauvert and Notre Dame then also played some longer matches to decide the final positions of 5th, 6th and 7th.

LMDC were crowned Fair Play winners for consistently showing the sporting values of sportsmanship, respect and honesty. There were also some individual awards with James (LMDC) being chosen as the Most Improved Player, Braden (Vale) picked up the Sportsmanship Award and Jack (Forest) was our Confident Umpire.

The festival provided children who already play squash with the opportunity to represent their school at their chosen sport as well introducing other players to the sport for the first time.

Final Positions – Castel (1st), Forest, (2nd), Vale (3rd), Beechwood (4th), Notre Dame (5th), LMDC (6th) and Vauvert (7th)
