Family Fun Day Returning for Fourth Year
30th May 2018
Islanders will once again be encouraged to get active when The Guernsey Sports Commission and Generali Worldwide host their fourth Family Fun Day at Saumarez Park on Saturday 30 June.
This popular event offers a variety of free sports taster sessions for families to get involved in, whatever their age or ability.
Activities on offer include athletics, basketball, boxing, cheerleading, Gaelic football, hockey, petanque, rugby, sailing, tennis and walking football, amongst many more. Sports coaches and volunteers will also be on hand to help people of all fitness levels make the most of the sessions.
There’s free fun for every age group, with face painting for the little ones and an inflatable football pitch for more competitive youngsters.
Generali Worldwide is committed to encouraging health and well-being through its Get Active, Stay Active initiative. Event organisers hope that, through the free activities, islanders will have the chance to discover new hobbies or sports that they can continue to enjoy as a family even after the fun day is over.
“The day offers the perfect opportunity for islanders to try something new in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. We hope it will encourage people of every age to embrace a new sport or activity that will help keep them fit and healthy,” says Jenny Murphy, Sports Development Officer for the Guernsey Sports Commission.
“All the sports activities are free of charge and the day promises to be a fun and healthy way for families to spend a few hours together.”
Giorgio Daboni, Chief Executive Officer, Generali Worldwide in Guernsey, comments: “The Family Fun Days have proved a tremendous success over the last few years and we are very pleased that Generali’s support is having such a lasting impact. Children and adults are able to try something new and then hopefully continue to enjoy the benefits that an active lifestyle can bring”.
