The Utmost Community Sports Funday will feature a new mascot challenge on Saturday 3rd September at Saumarez Park.
Mascots, including Darcy the Donkey, Utmost’s Islands Games Team Mascot, GFC’s Roary the Lion, Rugby’s Rocky the Raider and Cricket’s Owlzat the Owl, will compete against each other in a friendly obstacle course challenge to become the Utmost Community Sports Funday champion.
Before the challenge takes place, children are encouraged to come along to take part in the warm-up session and help the mascots through the challenge and to show encouragement.
In partnership with The Guernsey Sports Commission, the free event will offer over 20 sports for the whole community to try. New additions this year will include skateboarding and gymnastics. Other sporting activities on offer throughout the day will include table tennis, boxing, golf, sailing, squash, volleyball, fencing, football, cricket, cycling, netball, athletics, hockey, rugby, petanque, walking football, bowls, dance and badminton. Regardless of age and ability, all islanders are welcome and will be encouraged to get involved.
The event will begin at 12pm, with the mascot challenge taking place at 1pm and the day concluding at 4pm.
Nicky Will, Director of Communications for the Guernsey Sports Commission, said: “We are excited about the addition of the mascot challenge for the Utmost Community Sports Funday this year.
