You will assist in the delivery of the Guernsey Sports Commission’s Street Sports Programme and other sporting initiatives in the community through delivering sports sessions for individuals/groups. The post holder will work towards encouraging participation and the development of skills in participants.

The Guernsey Sports Commission is looking for expressions of interest for three placements/ internships from students studying, or who have graduated from, a sport science or teaching related degree, as part of its work in primary schools, performance sport and our wider sporting community.
The placements would come with a maintenance grant of £10k, with free accommodation for the placement in Alderney. All the placements would be for one academic year with the opportunity to gain additional earning opportunities at weekends and in the holidays.
During the placement the student(s) would be supporting Sports Commission staff and teachers with the delivery of fundamental movement skills, school sport and community based sport programmes. In addition to this there is the opportunity for students to spend a proportion of their time on areas of personal interest or research projects Through the 2019/20 academic year our students have been developing performance analysis solutions for Guernsey FC* and Guernsey Raiders overseen by qualified sport scientists. Students would also gain access to mentoring, continual professional development opportunities and formal qualifications through the Guernsey Sports Commission and its member sports. There would also be the scope for interested students to undertake project work given the relevant stakeholders being satisfied.
Minimum requirements at commencement of the role would include a minimum UKCC2 or equivalent coaching qualification in a sport, a driving licence, DBS check and an in date safeguarding qualification. The Guernsey Sports Commission will be able to provide support to individuals if required in acquiring these qualifications.
