The Guernsey Sports Commission would like to reassure parents and the wider community that it is following all the necessary advice and guidance issued by Public Health Services with regard to Coronavirus – COVID-19.
‘The latest advice from the Director of Public Health is that we should consider avoiding all non-essential travel in and out of the island,’ said Graham Chester, Operations Director.
‘Sporting teams and organisations should carefully consider this advice when deciding whether to go ahead with any planned off island fixtures this weekend and in the near future.
‘The advice currently is that on-island local sporting events can continue as planned and the GSC would draw the public’s attention to the wealth of information on the States website https://gov.gg/coronavirus about managing the current situation.
‘This is a fast-changing situation and if the advice changes and sporting events need to be cancelled, we will do our best to support the organisers and help them communicate any information to participants and spectators as necessary.
‘In the interim our staff will continue to work as usual and will be taking all necessary precautions as advised by Public Health Services.’
