GSC will work with sports to find alternative venues

August 19, 2021

The Guernsey Sports Commission will do everything it can to secure alternative venues for those sports who continue to be affected by the lack of availability of the Sir John Loveridge sports hall at Beau Sejour.

‘We know that there will be a number of sports and community users who will be very disappointed at the news that the main sports hall will continue to be needed as the island’s Community Vaccination Centre,’ said Graham Chester, Director of Operations for the Sports Commission.

‘Whilst we all understand the Public Health requirements for vaccinating younger members of the community and the need for a booster programme, the continued lack of availability of the island’s largest multi-use sports hall will be a blow to some of our member sports.

‘We will be speaking to those affected over the coming days and are working with the States of Guernsey to ensure we can to find alternative venues which, although may not be ideal, will allow as much of the affected sporting activity to continue as possible,’ said Graham.
