The Sporting Achievement Awards special guest will this year be Guernsey Sporting Hero, Matt Le Tissier. The former Southampton and England footballer and now Sky Sports Pundit is regarding as one of the finest sportsmen Guernsey has ever produced.
Le Tissier spent his entire professional club career with Southampton having left Guernsey at the age 16. He went on to earn eight England caps and finished his club career with a single appearance for Guernsey FC in 2013.
A creative attacking midfielder with exceptional technical skill, Le Tissier is the second-highest ever scorer for Southampton behind Mick Channon and was voted PFA Young Player of the Year in 1990. He was the first midfielder to score 100 goals in the Premier League and finished his club career having scored 164 goals in 464 appearances.
Following his retirement as a player, Le Tissier became a football pundit, and currently works as a panelist on the Sky Sports show Soccer Saturday. In 2011, he became honorary president of Guernsey F.C.
Le Tissier will be joined on the stage by his three brothers Mark, Kevin and Carl during the Sporting Achievement Awards 2018 on Thursday 10th January 2019.
