Running World Cup

February 24, 2020

Help Guernsey win the running world cup where anyone over the age of 13 years can compete to run for their own country

Just register at www.runningworldcup.com and sign up for Channel Islands.

So far, there are runners from 200 countries signed-up. Guernsey is in a group called small European countries and includes Gibraltar, Jersey, Isle of Man, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, San Marino and the Holy See!

All you need is a smartphone or smart fitness device to log runs – basically using systems like strava - and to be able to run 3 km in 30 minutes. The more everyone runs the better.

The first round takes place from  March 5th to March 11th and then the top 16 countries go into the next round on March 14th – and the finals start on April 4th for a couple of days.

Check out our team captain. Jamaica has Usain Bolt, UK has Jessica Ennis-Hill. Guernsey has….. Sarah Mercier. Sarah has been involved in running for over twenty years since she was a junior. She has now represented the island at two Commonwealth Games and numerous Island Games.
