Three year sponsorship deal for Women's Golf Development Squad

March 28, 2023

The 2023 season for Guernsey Women’s Golf Development Squad (GWGDS) has got off to a great start after having signed a three-year contract with leading international law firm, Walkers.

The Squad was set up by golfer, Angela Goddard, to nurture and develop female golfers in the island to compete at inter-insular level and beyond.

Walkers – which recently moved to new, larger premises at Helvetia Court as it continues to grow and develop its presence in the island – will support and sponsor the group for the next three years.

The GWGDS has over 50 regular players and will shortly resume its training calendar and programme which aims to improve players' technical, physical and mental skills on courses around the island, with a view to competing against other island teams and in the UK.

Matt Sanders, Walkers' Managing Partner in Guernsey, said: "We are delighted to be supporting this growing group which provides support and training for female players of all ages and abilities.

"As we continue to grow, we are mindful of the need to have an impact on the wider community here in Guernsey, and we look forward to helping the Guernsey Women's Golf Development Squad achieve its bold goals for raising the profile and accessibility of the sport in the island."

Angela Goddard, Chairperson of the GWGDS said that having Walkers on board will provide our members with a lot more opportunities.

“Now in our fifth year, the squad has evolved and learnt each year what is required to help grow the female game here in the island,” she said.
