The ‘Guernsey Sports Commission’ Tri Golf festival took place on Thursday 16th May, we saw 16 participants attend the Festival this year. The team set out stations around Beau Sejour sports hall which focused on a range of putting and chipping skills allowing participants to challenge themselves. Each participant represented a country, England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Sweden. The winning team gaining most points across all stations was Scotland. We also feel it is important to reward individuals or teams who have shown good player of the day attributes throughout the afternoon, our player of the day winners were England.
We are very fortunate that Appleby have sponsored this festival again this year. Anthony Williams, Partner at Appleby said “We are proud to be involved with sponsoring the Tri Golf Festival. Appleby have sponsored the L'Ancresse Open, the Guernsey Golf Union Junior Golf Squad and the Ladies Pairs competition at La Grande Mare for a number of years. Having the opportunity to work with the Guernsey Sports Commission to support and encourage school children to try golf, have fun and hopefully take up the game is another key part of Appleby’s involvement with golf development in Guernsey.” Annie from the Sports Commission said “The festival ran really smoothly and we saw some excellent golf from each participant. The feedback we have received has all been positive and the goodie bags were a big hit."
A massive thank you to Appleby who have provided the young people with a goodie bag containing lots of treats, including a golf themed activity book, golf balls, a golf towel plus the all-important party balloon! We were also able to provide a fruit snack and water to the young people. Also a big thank you to the Golf club representatives who attended and helped out at a station. It was great to see so many helpers putting their time into the festival and engaging with the young people.

We look forward to working with Appleby and the golf clubs in the future.
