November 1, 2018

Thursday 25th October saw 8 primary schools compete in the 3rd annual Inter Primary Schools Squash Festival held at Beau Sejour.

In total 27 children from Year 5 or 6 represented their school in a series of matches which were played first to 7 points.

After 90 minutes of action, which saw some superb squash and sportsmanship on display the scores were added up. A clear leader with 153 points was ECJS Whites who were crowned the 2018 winners. The team consisting of Regan, Harry E and Dylan only dropped a single point across their 24 matches and proved to be the consistent team in the 2018 event.

Steph Batiste, PE & Sport Development Officer at the Guernsey Sports Commission outlined the main aim of the Inter Primary School Festivals. 'These types of opportunities are a great way of giving more children the chance to represent their school at the sport they enjoy playing in the community. We have seen a brilliant standard from all the schools today and you could see a real sense of pride as they represented their school'.
