Lucas Joins Team GSC

The Guernsey Sports Commission are delighted to welcome Lucas Barker to the team.

The Guernsey raised Lancastrian with a love of all things sport, will be joining the PE team with a specific role of delivering our PPA support programme. Lucas brings a great amount of experience to the team having just completed his masters degree in strength and conditioning after studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Chichester.

Lucas began his coaching career at the age of 15, supporting Jason Shambrook and David Hooper at the Guernsey Cricket Board with various summer camps and after school clubs, he has also worked at the Indoor Cricket Centre as a multi sports coach. Whilst in the UK, Lucas has spent time with Sussex County Cricket Club, more recently with Surrey Storm Netball and as a sports science intern at the Talented Athlete Support Scheme at Southampton University working across a range of sports.

'Everyone at the Commission has been incredibly welcoming and I look forward to continuing my development as a coach within the Commission and learning from the team of experienced and enthusiastic coaches', he said.

Lucas plays cricket for Guernsey and rugby for local club side St Jacques Vikings.
